  • Work by Others

    The following requirements must be met before installations is completed and are not included in the elevator contract.
    Owner or general contractor to provide the following according to A17.1 Code unless local code is more stringent.

    HOISTWAY:
    1. Plump within 1” and properly ventilated hoistway according to code and sizes shown.
    2. Adequate supports for buffers and rail guide brackets. When maximum spacing is exceeded, rail supports shall be provided at owner’s expense.
    3. Hoistway barricades (all cutting and patching to install entrances, sill and hall fixtures.. Also refer to entrances drawing for suitable sill support, recess and grouting.
    4. Projections of 2” or more shall be beveled at angle not less than 75 from horizontal.
    5. Floor recess of full width of the hoistway at all entrances for sills to the size shown. Grout by others.
    6. Where possible entrances walls to be constructed after door frames and sills are installed. If rough openings are to be used then rough openings must be 8” on each side.
    7. Guide rail brackets must be installed before fireproofing the hoistway.
    8. Sleeves in the hoistway walls and roof slab for ropes and wiring duct for each car.
    9. Door bucks and tracking sills, to be set plumb above each other and square with hoistway. In tile, concrete block or similar walls, side members must extend from sill to beam above. Where front and rear openings, the dimensions between door frames must be maintained.
    10. Guide rail support locations must be steel, brick, concrete block. If used, inserts are supplied and installed by others, in shown locations as walls being erected. If rail brackets are attached to steel beams, fire proofing must be applied after rail brackets are in place, Steel beams size & location is specified by the elevator contractor, steel beams are furnished and erected by others.
    11. A legal dry pit with a reinforced floor to sustain vertical forces as shown. At impact all forces shown must be doubled.
    12. A pit ladder for each car of non combustible material and extends from the pit floor to 48” above the sill of the bottom landing is required.
    13. Light, light switch and duplex “GFI” electric outlet, in the pit and overhead. The light switch accessible from the bottom and top landing opening.
    14. Pit ladder shall be provided when required.

    MACHINE ROOM:
    15. A legal lighted and ventilated machine room at top floor with access and controlled temperature maintained between 60-95 deg F. The machine room door should be locked and secured against unauthorized access according to the code. It should be self closing, locking, and openable from inside without a key.
    16. Hoist beam insert or hook to be installed at top of the machine room in the center of the car and rails.
    17. Light and switch in the machine room with switch located adjacent to the access door.
    18. A duplex “GFI” electric outlet must be provided.

    ELECTRICAL: (All ELECTRICAL MUST BE ACCORDING TO THE NEC & ANSI CODES.
    19. A fused disconnect switch for each car wiring to each elevator’s motor starter control. Disconnected means shall be disconnect all electrical power from the power surce(s. including emergency power when required.
    20. A suitable 25A 110Vac disconnect switch for car light service located in the control room and connected to the terminals in the control panel.
    21. Heat and smoke sensors to be located at each elevator lobby with necessary wiring to each car control panel.
    22. A telephone in each elevator car and its wiring from the building service to the elevator’s control panel.
    23. A separate 25A 110Vac fused service with ground(Supplied thru automatic emergency lighting supply if available. connected to elevator signal controller for car lighting.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

    24. A safe and dry room to store the elevator’s equipment and tools required for construction.
    25. Necessary power for installing the elevator free of charge.
    26. Any other equipment(s. or source(s., not specified above, beyond the normal scope of supply of the elevator contractor and is necessary for the elevator(s. installations.
